In the event organized by Property Week Uganda called “How to Own Property in your youth” youths were cautioned against land deals because in most cases these are fake.
“Youth love quick and cheap things which in most cases turn out fake, never go for land that is cheaper than its worth, do a search in ministry of lands to be certain that the land is genuine,” said Mercy Kanyesigye an Urban Planner at The Ministry of Lands.
She advised youths to always check with the Ministry offices in their districts to ensure the land they are buying is genuine and in the quantity the seller says.
“Sometimes the seller tells you four acres but when you cross check with the Ministry, it only two acres in the sellers names,” she said.
She adds that you should always question quick sellers and those demanding for less amount compared to the value of land.
